To: Me, From: Me. A Little Treat at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel & Spa.
First of all I have to start by giving you a bit of a background story so you know how amazing this place is!
I came off a night shift and went straight to my Luton for a meeting and so I forgot my charger, I then realised that i’d be running late and so I called the spa and asked if it was at all possible that I could reschedule my appointment for a little bit later and thankfully they were able to!
So, I tried to charge my phone as much as I could before leaving my mums house but on my journey back to London I ended up watching everyone’s snapchat stories, as you do. When I arrived I was greeting by one of the concierge who showed me to the spa. I’ve stayed at this hotel once before but never used the facilities as it was only for a night and we were out all evening.
As I entered the spa the receptionist requested my name and asked me to fill out a health questionnaire which as I started, she offered me a drink, the choices were peppermint tea or water. I then thought I may as well ask if they had an iPhone charger, the lady said no but offered to bring it to the concierge to charge. At first I agreed then thought it won’t be dying any time soon, my phone was on 68% so I told her not to worry. Before I knew it she had arrived back with a charger and said I could just bring it to reception when I’m leaving. Needless to say I was so amazed by the kindness!
We went through to the changing rooms and Zenab explained how to use the lockers, pointed out where the extra towels were should I need them then left me to change and asked that I arrive in the relaxation lounge five minutes before my treatment time. I hung around a bit whilst my phone charged and decided to go into the sauna.
I made my way to the lounge and was called in by Michaela a few moment later. I was asked to change from my swimwear into disposable underwear which I did and for the next 30 mins I enjoyed a moroccan back massage which took me to heaven and back. I love back massages especially because I tend to internalise my stress which causes my back, neck and shoulders to become tense which can sometimes cause tension headaches. The massage was out of this world and I felt like I was floating for a long while after. The relaxation room was where I could laid for a while and before leaving she explained I should stay hydrated and pointed out a selection of drinks, Rose bud tea, chamomile tea, lemon water and snacks which to me appeared to be banana chips and some other fancy baked crisps. These were the TASTIEST crisps I’ve EVER had in my life!
I stayed there till it closed, stuffed my face with the crisps and drank as much rose bud tea as I could until I needed to pee. The hotel guests are allowed to used the so facilities until 23:00 however this time I didn’t stay so I was supposed to leave at 21:00, luckily the receptionists informed the person taking over their shift that they’d authorised me staying longer as my treatment was quite late and so it gave me time to relax a bit afterwards.
Exploring more of the facilities I found may way to the swimming pool which I was delighted to see wasn’t occupied by anybody. I continued to relax and swam a few lengths in the pool with a rest in the jacuzzi in between. I won’t lie and say that i didn’t consider hiding in the lounge to stay longer because i literally did NOT want it to end! I know it sounds crazy but it was literally that fabulous being there. It was quiet and peaceful with relaxing background music, it was out of this world. For a moment the hustle and bustle of the busy St Pancras road was forgotten about, until I left and it was back to reality.
I’d like to say a special thanks to Yasmin who made the reservation, Maria who welcomed me on arrival, Zenab who got me the charger and gave me a tour, Cindy who allowed me to use her charger and Miheala the masseuse for taking me to cloud 9 and back with her talented hands.
Thank you to St Pancras Renaissance Spa team for having me, I’ll definitely be back.
